Yamal is a road to the Arctic!

To begin with, we have retained the social and political stability. It is crucial not only for the people of Yamal, whose confidence in the future is set on solid foundations, but also for investors with their requirement of predictability.

In five years the volume of investment in fixed assets increased twofold and amounted to a total of more than three trillion rubles. This indicator ranked Yamal number two among the regions of Russia. The gross regional product has been doubled and approached the mark of a half trillion rubles. The budget revenues have also been doubled. The figures of created jobs exceeded 30 thousands.

Yamal has become one of the leading regions in terms of the construction works per capita. Every tenth resident of the Area improved his living conditions for free by moving from old buildings to new comfortable apartments located either on the Yamal Peninsula or beyond. In the swamps, we have laid more than 200 kilometers of new roads through dozens of rivers and have built one of the most important parts of the Northern Latitudinal Railway – a bridge over the Nadym River. Next year the residents of the western part of the Area will be able to travel by to "mainland" by automobile roads.

Now we have a maritime history. Our region has become a powerhouse of the Northern Sea Route's revival. In a short historical period, there were only two ports in the Autonomous Area: Sabetta and Novy Port. Of no less importance is the fact that we have launched on Yamal a refining capacity that was previously an inaccessible height for us.

But our main result is in changing the picture of the Yamal Peninsula as a rotational territory. It is important that the majority of our landsmen wants to live and work here, considering the options for moving to other regions only in the retirement age.

The next five years must be devoted to the economy and what we must change first of all is the philosophy of the economic expenses. Our priority is strengthening the status of Yamal as a safe region. We need to create a strong foundation for the future. An important area for us is the capitalization of each resident of Yamal through the increase in revenues, the construction of modern housing, social facilities, and municipal roads, the development of municipal infrastructure, and the elimination of energy dependence. We will have to reduce the gap in the quality of life between big towns and small villages.

Currently, there are large-scale projects launched in the region that will allow us to be a powerhouse of the country's development and to form its revenues. All of the changes taking place in the Area cannot be viewed as a mere coincidence or luck. Yamal has never been the darling of fortune. Our region is a creator and a manufacturer with skilful, hard-working hands, a warm heart and a strong will. All our achievements result from our common work in the oil and gas, commercial, fiscal, and agricultural sectors, as well as from our northern temper.
